Understanding the Initiative

The Next Gen Initiative by WADEMOS seeks to equip young leaders with essential skills and knowledge to drive positive change and reinforce democracy in West Africa.

Criteria for Application for WADEMOS Next Gen Initiative:

 Eligibility

To be eligible for the Next Gen Initiative, applicants must meet the following criteria:

 Age Requirement: Applicants should be between 18 and 35 years old at the time of application.

 Citizenship: Citizens of West African countries, including Benin, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Ivory Coast, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone, and Togo are eligible to apply.

 Language Proficiency: Applicants should be able to read, write, and communicate in English, French, or Portuguese or have a minimum of a high school diploma or its equivalent.

 Educational Background: Higher educational qualifications or ongoing studies in democracy, governance, political science, international relations, human rights, gender, or social sciences will be advantageous.

Passion for Democracy and Governance

Successful applicants should have a genuine interest in democracy, governance, human rights, or related fields and a commitment to promoting and defending democratic principles in West Africa.

Leadership Potential and Involvement

Applicants are encouraged to demonstrate leadership potential or prior involvement in activities related to democratic governance, such as community organizing, advocacy, civil society engagement, or volunteer work.

Full Commitment

Participants must be available to commit to the entire program, attending training sessions, workshops, and other related activities actively. Active participation and contribution to the program’s objectives are essential.
